What is the Statewide Single Payer Minnesota Health Plan?
WTIP North Shore Community Radio in Grand Marais launches a Community Conversations series called The Future of Health
What is the Statewide Single Payer Minnesota Health Plan?
If it is enacted, will I be able to keep my MNCare, MNSure, Commercial Health Insurance plan, Veterans Care, Disability Care, Medicaid or Medicare? What will happen to Medicare Advantage or my employer-sponsored coverage if the Minnesota Health Plan is implemented? Will I, as a freelancer, artist, maker, seasonal worker, sole proprietor or independent contractor be able to use the plan? How will it impact me as an administrative employee working at a medical care clinic or a medical professional at a hospital? What will change if I manage a disability or chronic illness? Will it cover prenatal to End-of-Life health maintenance including vision, dental and hearing? Will I be able to see my doctors of choice anywhere? How will it be financed?
These questions will be discussed and addressed during the Thursday, April 25 Community Conversations broadcast on WTIP North Shore Community Radio at 7:00pm CT.
Celebrated Labor Organizer Rose Roach and veteran Minnesota State Senator John Marty will discuss how the Single Payer Minnesota Health Plan will help individual, household and business health by removing barriers to healthcare access, while streamlining administrative waste and improving health outcomes.
The hour-long conversation will be moderated by WTIP contributor and AMPERS COO Kimberly Soenen. This April 25th show is part one of a three-part Community Conversations series on the future of health for Minnesotans that will be ongoing through November of 2024.
Part one will examine the Statewide Single Payer Minnesota Health Plan (MHP). The second show will compare the MHP to the Minnesota Public Option. The third show will compare the Commercial Health Insurance industry’s business model to the other health programs being proposed. Shorter interviews will be conducted with citizens living on the North Shore throughout the series run about the changes residents would like to see implemented in how we all access, and pay for, healthcare. Select interviews will be held with persons from Greater Minnesota, as well.
