FTC Chairwoman Lina Kahn is not only doing her job, but she is doing an exceptional job. She is making every effort to dismantle UnitedHealth Group’s unchecked power to harm patients and providers.
Antitrust agencies want everyday Americans and ethical healthcare professionals to report suspicions of anticompetitive practices and other crimes in healthcare—especially on UnitedHealth Group, United Healthcare and Optum.
The Federal Trade Commission, Department of Justice and HHS last month unveiled the portal, HealthyCompetition.gov, where anyone can submit a complaint for antitrust agencies to review — and potentially investigate.
Citizens and medical professionals can report other tactics and crimes that limit choice, alternatives or options to contracting with UnitedHealth Group, United Healthcare or Optum, including intimidation, underpayment, delayed payments, denied payments, harassment or coercion.
The goal is to ensure commercial health insurance companies that operate like investment banking firms and Private Equity funds provide quality care, pay workers fair wages and overall don’t bulldoze market competition.
The portal will be a source of investigative tips of all kinds from physicians, nurses, medical residents, innovators, research entitles and citizens for ethical legislators and the courts.
