Did a Commercial Health Insurance Company Deny You Medical Care? Did You Appeal or Fight Back While Sick, Injured or Disabled?
Help our colleagues at ProPublica Report on the harm caused by the Commercial Health Insurance Industry Denial of Care business model in the United States
(“Systemness” - A short film about the Denial of Care business model invented and implemented by the United States commercial health insurance industry.)
Investigative journalism colleagues and friends at ProPublica — David Armstrong, Patrick Rucker and Maya Miller — are diving into the Commercial Health Insurance industry to further expose the harm and death caused by the Denial of Care business model.
Maya is an engagement reporter and she is seeking stories from everybody about their Denial of Care experiences.
Commercial health insurance companies in the United States deny millions and millions of claims every year in order to rake in record-breaking profits while harming—and frequently killing—patients.
ProPublica is investigating how claims are methodically denied, what the dire emotional, financial and physiological consequences are for patients, and how the appeal process architected by the industry lobby (aka “The Hassle Factor”) is executed.
